Announcing IPv6 on Spin Servers

IPv6 now available at Spin Servers

We recently released a newsletter outlining our plans for several features our Spin Servers community has been requesting. With our new bandwidth monitor now live, we've been able to turn our attention to the next one.

We're proud to announce that IPv6 is now available at Spin Servers! You can now add IPv6 blocks to your servers directly from the client area.

How does it work?

Each client receives a free IPv6 prefix in a region once they provision their first server in that region.

Assign IP subnets

To start using IPv6 addresses (or any other addresses from a prefix), you first need to assign a subnet to a VPC. You can do this in the Prefixes & Subnets Manager.

When you click the Prefixes & Subnets Manager button, a new dialog box opens showing all of your active prefixes. Each prefix has a list of its subnets and a green Add Subnet button.

To add a subnet, choose a network mask, a subnet and a VPC from the lists of available options. The available masks are:

  • IPv6: /64 to /72
  • IPv4: from the size of your assigned block down to /30

To save time, you can add several subnets in one go. When you've finished adding the subnets you need, click Save Changes.
